Amica means friend.

Before anything else, we wanted to be a company businesses can rely on.

How we got here.

Three decisions shaped what we build.

  1. Start with the hardware.

We studied the payment terminals used in markets like Japan and sourced the right suppliers. Our terminals are SIRIM QAS certified, and we work with the manufacturer directly, instead of reselling terminals already on the market.

    For you

Your terminal is SIRIM QAS certified, comes with a one-year warranty, and carries no reseller markup.

  2. Build the whole system.

Hardware on its own doesn’t sell. A business buys one package from someone it trusts. So we built our own POS system around the hardware: Shiok POS.

    For you

Sales, stock, customers and staff live in one system. The terminal and the software come from the same team, so when something breaks you know who to call.

  3. Find the bigger problem.

As we talked to owners, we kept hearing the same things. Pricing is hard to find. Contracts are hard to read. Most owners are never shown how payments work. That is when this stopped being about one product.

    For you

We explain how payments work before you sign. Your transaction rate proposal is written for your business, in plain terms. The fees in it are the fees you pay.

We want to build everything a business needs around the counter, not just sell a terminal.

Where we’ve been.

Our terminals are SIRIM QAS certified, and we work with the manufacturer directly, instead of reselling terminals already on the market. It took longer, but it gave Malaysian businesses more choice, without the reseller markup.

How we think, and how we work.

  1. Plain terms beat clever marketing.

If we can’t explain something simply, we haven’t finished the work.

  2. A long relationship beats a fast sale.

We’d rather keep a business for years than close a deal quickly.

  3. Being useful matters more than looking impressive.

A useful product earns its place in someone’s day.

  4. Education is part of the product.

A business shouldn’t need to decode its own contract or invoice.

  5. Hardware and software are one problem, not two.

Solving only one of them isn’t solving anything.

  6. Real feedback beats guesswork.

We listen to the people using the product every day.

Who’s behind it.

Two co-founders. Two jobs.

Who we’re for, and where we start.

  • Your first conversation

    • We ask about your business.
    • We find the pain points.
    • We ask what you want next.

Your proposal is written around your answers.

  • Why small businesses

    • Underserved: large providers rarely serve them.
    • Under-informed: many owners never see their real options.
    • Uncomplicated: we explain it in plain words.

Many small businesses sign contracts with penalties and clauses they never noticed. We put every term in plain words.

Questions people ask.

Still have a question?
Is Amica Labs the same as Shiok POS?

Not quite. Amica Labs is the company. Shiok POS is our first product, built and sold by Amica Labs.

Do you build the hardware yourselves?

No. Our terminals are SIRIM QAS certified, and we work with the manufacturer directly, instead of reselling terminals already on the market. It took longer and cost more upfront, but it meant no reseller markup and models that weren’t available in Malaysia before.

Who is Shiok POS actually for?

Retail and F&B businesses in Malaysia, from single-outlet shops to growing operations.

Is Amica Labs only focused on payments and POS?

That’s where we started. Amica Labs is a growth solutions company, and we’re building more products for how businesses run.

Where is Amica Labs based?

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Shiok POS currently serves businesses in Malaysia.

How is Amica Labs different from other POS or payment providers?

Most of the problems businesses run into with POS and payments aren’t the product itself. They’re the contract, the pricing or the support around it. That’s the part we built Amica Labs to fix.

Shiok POS and Payments are where we started. We’re building more products to help businesses run and grow.

Let’s grow together.

Whether it’s Shiok POS or payments, tell us what your business needs.
